Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder characterized by abdominal discomfort associated with altered bowel function. Antidepressants and antibiotics (mainly Salix/Alfa Wassermann/Norgine/Bama-Geve’s Xifaxan [rifaximin]), are also commonly used off-label to treat IBS. GlobalData anticipates that four new therapies have the potential to enter the IBS market during the 2013-2023 forecast period.
